About

Medicine was established in1995 for the need in biochemistry teaching at the medical school. The TCU School of Medicine Biochemistry Department has also been responsible for the biochemistry teaching in other departments in the TCU since the beginning. The setup of the Master Program in Biochemistry can also be dated back to 1995 when the department was first established. This program was originally a division in the Institute of Medical Sciences at Tzu Chi Medical College and TCU.

In 2010, a whole new Institute, the Institute of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry, was initiated by combining the Biochemistry Division of the Institute of Medical Sciences and the Institute of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Medicine. In August 2011, because of the change of the university policy, the Institute was re-structured back under the School of Medicine, and thus renamed as the Master Program of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry. In 2013 the Master Program of Biochemistry gained the approval from the Taiwan Ministry of Education to become an independent Master Program under the School of Medicine. The mission of the Master Program of Biochemistry is to prepare students with foundations for advanced biomedical researches, and applicable techniques and knowledge in biomedical industries. Our graduates have been performed excellently in academic researches as well as in industries. We welcome students from all backgrounds to join and work with us, and make contributions to the academic world and the society as a whole with their trained expertise in the future.
